Description

Rotasil is a live attenuated oral Rotavirus vaccine indicated for prevention of gastroenteritis due to rotavirus infection in infants.

Immunization Guideline

Rotasil should be given in 3 doses at 4 weeks gap, starting at the minimum age of 6 weeks. Doses can be administered separately or along with other routine vaccines like DTP, IPV, OPV, Hib, and Hepatitis B vaccine. Infant can be given any food or liquid or breast milk before or after the vaccination with oral vaccine drops. In case when the baby spits up or regurgitates most of the vaccine, it is considered an incomplete dose. Dose may be again given in the same visit to complete the vaccination. Rest of the doses may be given as per the schedule.

Dispose off any unused vaccine or waste material. The reconstituted vaccine should also be inspected visually for any foreign particulate matter and/or abnormal physical appearance prior to administration.
