The government vaccination centers are providing vaccination named Penta 1 for DPT. I googled this name but could not find anything. What is this vaccine, is it the correct one ?
Also what should be opt for, government centers where penta 1 vaccine is given free of cost or pediatrician where easy 6 is given which is chargeable? What would be more beneficial ?
Pentavalent vaccination is done to immunize the child against 5 diseases in one shot namely Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Hib and Hep B. Easy 6 vaccine protect against Polio as well. Nowadays apart from oral polio drops, injectable polio vaccine is also essential. So, if you want your child to have less pricks, go for easy 6 vaccine.
Apart from this, pentavalent vaccines given at govt. centers are liquid formulations in a vial with 10 multiple doses. If a careless person administers the vaccine without caring for refrigerating the unused vaccine at proper times, the vaccine may become ineffective. Easy six vaccine comes in lyophilised or powdered form and single or 4 doses vial. Refrigeration is not critical in single dose vial.
If you trust your govt. vaccination center and are sure of their practices regarding storage of vaccines, you can easily opt for pentavalent vaccines as these are WHO Qualified and safe and effective besides being absolutely free.
